How to Train Your AI Sales Agent So It Sounds Like an Expert

Your AI agent can only say what you teach it. Here is what to upload, what to skip, and why real numbers beat polished marketing copy on a sales call.

Key takeaways

  • • Your agent can only say what you teach it, so give it real numbers rather than polished descriptions.
  • • The best things to upload are your price list, your deadlines, and the questions customers ask you every week.
  • • A brochure alone is not enough, because it describes what you do without saying anything a buyer could not already guess.

Why some agents sound sharp and others sound empty

Think about the last time someone sold you something well. They probably told you something you did not know. A date you had missed. A cost you had not planned for. A rule that changed what you were about to do.

That is the whole difference. Buyers choose the person who taught them something, not the one who simply listened politely.

Your AI agent works the same way, with one important limit. It is only allowed to say things you have taught it. This is deliberate. We would rather your agent say nothing than invent a price or promise a result you never offered. Everything it says on a call can be traced back to something you gave it.

So if you only tell it what your company does in general terms, that is all it can repeat. Give it your actual numbers and it starts to sound like the person in your team who knows the answers.

1. You give facts Upload documents, or answer a few questions about your business. 2. We build the brain Prices, dates and rules are pulled out and kept exactly as you wrote them. 3. Your agent calls It answers with your real numbers instead of vague promises. Facts make a good agent "Most courses close by March." "Setup is five hundred pounds." "You need six point five to apply." Slogans make a weak one "We deliver world class service." "We can help with your needs." "We are passionate about growth."

The four things worth giving it first

You do not need to prepare anything special. Most of this already exists somewhere in your business.

Start with your prices. How much you charge, what is included, and what is free. This is the most common question on any call, and without it your agent has to dodge, which sounds evasive.

Then your dates. Deadlines, how long things take, when applications close, how long delivery runs. Real dates are the honest way to explain why waiting has a cost.

Then your requirements. What someone needs before they can work with you. A qualification, a minimum size, a document. This lets your agent tell a caller exactly where they stand in one sentence, which is the most useful thing it can do for them.

Finally, the questions you answer every week. The ones you are slightly tired of answering. Those are exactly the questions your customers will ask your agent.

Give it this

  • Setup is five hundred pounds, then ninety nine a month.
  • Most courses close by the middle of March.
  • You need a completed degree and a six point five score.
  • Visa decisions usually take about three weeks.
  • Last year we placed a hundred and forty students.

This does not help

  • We deliver world class results.
  • We are passionate about your success.
  • We offer bespoke, tailored solutions.
  • Our team of experts is here to help.
  • We take your business to the next level.

Why your brochure is not enough on its own

Marketing material is written to make people feel good about you. Sales conversations need something different. They need facts a buyer can act on.

When we read a brochure, we usually find plenty of description and very few numbers. That leaves your agent able to say what you do, but nothing about what it costs, when it happens, or whether this particular caller even qualifies. Every one of your competitors can say the same sentences.

This is why we ask you a few short questions when your uploads are thin. It takes about ten minutes and it does more for your agent than any document. You are simply telling us what you would tell a customer on the phone.

If you would rather upload than type, a price sheet, a list of dates, and a page of common questions will do the same job.

Say what is true, including the awkward parts

Everything you teach your agent may be spoken aloud on a recorded call. So the rule is simple. Only give it things you would be comfortable saying yourself.

Do not add results you cannot back up. Do not promise outcomes that depend on someone else, like an approval or an exam result. If there is something your agent must never say, write that down too, and it will stay away from it.

It also helps to be honest about who you are not for. Telling a caller early that they are not a fit saves them time and saves you a wasted conversation. Buyers trust that more than a sales pitch, and they tend to remember it.

How to tell if it worked

You will see a score for your agent before it starts calling. It is not a grade for your business. It only measures whether your agent has enough real information to hold a useful conversation.

If the score is low, we will tell you exactly what is missing rather than leaving you to guess. Usually it is prices or dates.

The clearest test is to read what your agent would say and ask yourself one question. Could I have written this sentence before I knew anything about this company? If yes, it needs another fact. If it sounds like something only your team would know, you are ready to call.
